Set in glorious rolling countryside there’s no place quite like it that pleases so many people, from fun & thrill-seeking families… to adults in search of relaxing gardens & wildlife.
…and our open ended freedom tickets allow you to return as many times in 7 days as you want to, which makes us unbelievably great value, so take a look inside and see why you’ll put Robin Hill at the top of your Island “must visit” list! Be sure to check out our great events too, including the IW Spring Garden Show, Electric Woods, Festival of Light, Bestival and more… More details below…
Our park opens at 10am daily, and is open 7 days a week. Closing times vary depending upon time of year and event calendar. Our earliest closing time is 5pm during low season, with the park open until 9pm or 10pm during electric woods opening periods. Click Here for an updated Opening Time Calendar. Spread out over 80 acres of beautiful countryside, Robin Hill has huge amounts of space for children to run free and let off steam.
We’re delighted to announce that our ‘electric woods’ events have been awarded ‘Bronze’ for Best Event in the Tourism South East ‘Beautiful South Awards for Excellence 2015-16. A huge thank you to all our team- and to all our visitors for your support!
Robin Hill Country Park is taking ‘adventure’ to dizzying new heights this season with the opening of its new Canopy Skywalk.
Set high up in the tree top canopy, the Skywalk stretches over 100 metres long, weaving its way through the natural landscape above the trees – oak, silver birch, ash, chestnut – reaching 10 metres in height at the central viewing gallery, which commands an amazing birds-eye view of the ancient woodland and beyond.
With integrated metal grating carefully placed into the walkway, visitors can conquer their vertigo whilst experiencing the thrill of viewing the vast forest floor many metres beneath their feet! And for the younger ones, the Canopy also links with the Squirrel Tower for even more fun and adventure!
As you go around the park you will come across a variety of exciting play features for children of all ages from tots to young teens. Here’s just a few of them:
Are you brave enough to climb to the top of this huge rope tower? You will need the climbing agility of our famous red squirrels to scramble to over 8 meters high! Loads of fun! You can then head up the hill and play on the Tree Top Trail where there is more climbing fun on our tree top bridges and platforms.
African Adventure is our fabulous adventure playground, themed as an African tribal village. It features lots of high-rise towers, giraffe swings, a monkey den, a cheetah zip wire, some great slides and adventure play equipment, with some wild animals thrown in for good measure! See the crocodiles at the watering hole and take a picture with our friendly tribesman, it’s a great addition to Robin Hill’s adventure play attractions.
One of our family favourite attractions…use our three rickety bridges to cross our troll ponds. But beware…these are more wobbly than you think and you might just get your feet wet! You are very near our world record tree sculpture-it’s a fantastic thing to see so be sure to pop back into the woods for a look later at this 19m wonder! You can also feed our ducks and carp in these ponds. Fish & duck food is available at the gift shop and in the Oasis Café during peak season.
Duck Down Play Village
Our miniature village has real houses and buildings but at a fraction of the real size. There’s a thatched cottage and even a pub (well, a pretend one!) that children will adore. Make a wish at the Duck Down wishing well and drop in a penny for a local charity!
You are sure to get lost in our giant wooden maze. But no fear, you can get directions from friends or family if they stand on the viewing platform and guide you! Our maze is just amazing fun for everyone!
Tots Play & Activity Course
One playground is especially for smaller children under 7 and the other is for bigger ones! Both are in the parks lower valley next to the playing and picnicking field and have swings and climbing features for suitably aged children.
Hill Billy & Snake Slides
Climb our hillside to use our fantastic slippery slides. The giant Hill Billy slide is right next to the Toboggan track and can take 4 riders at a time, while the Snake Slides are for individual riders. All are great slippery fun for children of all ages.
Sorry, the slides are closed in wet weather for Health & Safety reasons. Slides may take up to 1 hour after rain stops to dry sufficiently to re-open safely.
Families with children of all ages will love the huge variety of play areas and our four main ride experiences: Toboggan Run, Cows Express Children’s Train ride, Colossus, 4D cinema.
Enjoy our exhilerating quarter mile downhill toboggan run! You must be over 8 years old to ride on your own, but 3 to 7 year olds can ride with an adult, (£1.50 per ride surcharge applies, 3 to 7 year olds are charged 50p but must ride with a full paying adult). The track does not operate in wet conditions… sorry! Last ride 30 minutes before park closing time.
A great, fun, children’s train ride, but watch out because the cows have taken over! This train is ideal for the younger ones, but adults can still ride too! So it’s “full cream ahead” down to cows station, for this fantastic new ride. Age/height restrictions apply. Children must be over 90cm tall to ride unaccompanied. Maximum capacity applies, last ride 30 minutes before park closing.

The BIG Green Tractor Train
Our Big Green Tractor Train has only one job, to make getting around our lovely park that little bit easier… Whether you’ve just arrived and want a whistle stop tour of the park before exploring or if you’ve got to the end of a fantastic day and want to save those weary legs, let The BIG Green Tractor Train take the strain on the way back up the hill from the bottom of the park. The train runs on a constant loop of the park, stopping at three main areas along the way – just look out for it and jump onboard. The stops are clearly marked on the park map and timetable boards are located at each stop and just outside our gift shop… And if you’ve got a question about any aspect of the service or the park in general, just ask one of our BIG Green drivers and they’ll be pleased to help!
Our Falconry displays are famous the Island over. Many visitors are telling us that we do the best displays they have ever seen! With spectacular aerial displays at 11.30am and 2.45pm, set against the stunning backdrop of our beautiful downland scenery, there probably won’t be a better place to see these birds in action in the whole of the UK.
Steve Hain, our full-time falconer, and his team will be on hand all day long to tell you about the hawks, owls, falcons and kestrels he will have on display. You can ask questions and even get a photo taken with a bird on your arm should you wish.
The displays allow you to see these beautiful birds in action, diving from a hundred or so metres in the air, and swooping within inches of the spectators’ heads, a real crowd pleasing experience.
Some of the regular birds on show will include :
- Alaska – the Bald Eagle
- Jupiter – a Red Tailed Buzzard
- Angus & Tiny – Harris Hawks
- Swoop & Smokey – a pair of lightening quick Saker Falcons
- Spike – our European Eagle Owl
- Barney – a rescued Barn Owl
- Khan – our beautiful Steppe Eagle
These intimate and exciting owl displays take place in our woodland amphitheatre, just opposite the squirrel tower at 1.15pm every day. In Whitsun half term and during the summer holidays an extra show can be seen at 4.15pm.
Steve and his team fly a range of owl species in this amazing setting to provide a truly unique spectacle. As always, the displays are accompanied by witty, humourous and informative commentary. This is an experience for the whole family to enjoy and remember!
Please note :
- not all birds will be on display everyday and some special new arrivals may appear through the year the displays may be cancelled in very windy or wet weather, so please check on arrival if the weather is bad.
One of the Isle of Wight’s best kept secrets!
The park has 88 acres of beautiful English woodland that has grown here at Combley for hundreds of years. It has a tantalising mix of planted clearings, specimen trees, streams, ponds and sculptures. It is a must-see for all green-fingered enthusiasts visiting the Isle of Wight.
Over 100 years ago, the woodland had been planted with an array of unusual plants and trees and was used as a private woodland garden for the local Willis-Fleming estate based at near-by Combley farm. It was used for riding and walking for the family who had wide interests in gardening and it was well maintained and coppiced. Species can still be seen today from that era that would never normally be seen growing in an English woodland, like a Giant Redwood from North America or a Eucalyptus from the southern hemisphere.
However these woodland gardens were lost back to nature during the world war periods and became re-populated with native plants and species once again, but since 2005 work has been ongoing at Robin Hill to reclaim the glades, ponds and paths that once existed, which you will now see when you visit. A number of new plantings and features have been added to add interest and now the woodland in its own right is a popular destination for visitors.
Spring and autumn are the best times to visit if you want to see dazzling natural colour from the stunning blues and pinks of spring bluebells and rhododendrons to the dazzling red and gold of our trees in October. We also have beautiful woodland ponds with Chinese style bridges and tumbling waterfalls make for a stunning place to relax and gather ones thoughts in this peaceful woodland centrepiece garden. An interesting selection of sculptures and woodland features can be seen along the paths of the woodland, which showcase different works from some of the Island’s most talented artists. One of the most stunning features is our record breaking tree sculpture standing at 57ft and is a must see for all Island visitors.
