A warm welcome awaits you at The Solent Inn, as Landlord and Lady, Ross and Sonia, invite you to join them in one of the oldest, most historic pubs on the Isle of Wight. The Solent Inn was built in 1749 and originally known as the Beach Tavern in those days as it was located on the beach front before the Strand was constructed using reclaimed land. After the Strand and new Esplanade were built in the mid 1850’s the pub became cut off from the shore and hence was renamed the strand Tavern, and years later in 1900 was to become known and continues to this day be known as the Solent Inn.
Since the addition of the Solent Inn to the family run Inspirational Pub Company in June 2016 the business has been heavily invested in, refurbished and restored to former glories, and is again known for being a warm and welcoming traditional local offering quality real ales, live music, quiz nights open Mic nights and traditional locally sourced food.
The Cask Marque Award assures you of a perfect pint of cask ale every time which on those wet and cold winter nights can be enjoyed in front of either of our two traditional open fires, or alternatively enjoyed on those hot summer days in our award-winning garden.
The Solent offers one of the only pub gardens in Ryde, and is heavenly in the summer and a great place to rest and refuel after walking, cycling, sailing, spending time at the beach or enjoying the other amenities the sea-side town of Ryde has to offer.
