The Broadway Inn building is steeped with history. Most famously for Signor Marconi sending the first ever wireless transmissions. He first sent messages at first back to Totland then to a yacht in Alum Bay and finally to the SS St.Paul 36 miles out at Sea. These transmissions meant the birth of the radio.
Since then the Broadway Inn has come from strength to strength going and now Kim and Dave run The Broadway Inn as a fantastic family run public house in the heart of Totland Bay serving mouth watering home cooking and providing a nice warm welcome to families, locals and visitors alike.
The Broadway Inn doubles as the village Post office, a throw back to the 1800′s when Mr J B Garlick was postmaster at Totland Bay until 1902.The Post Office re-opened in The Broadway Inn 1 year ago following campaigns from locals to bring a village post office back to the area. The Post Office provides all of the most important facilities and offers a service between 11 am and 3 pm 6 days a week to local residents and visitors alike, including bill payments, pensions, insurance, cash withdrawals, mobile phone top ups and foreign currency.
The live entertainment at The Broadway includes beer festivals, themed nights and charity events as well as the local darts team playing every Tuesday Night.
This year with the Olympics coming to the UK will see the torch going past The Broadway. There will be special celebrations at the pub including amongst others things a Hog Roast so it will be the perfect place to sit back and relax with lovely food, great atmosphere and a front row seat to the Olympic Celebrations.
If you are hosting a celebration of your own, why not contact The Broadway who can accommodate groups of up to 65 (full house) or 30 (restaurant) for private parties, wedding receptions and private functions. Entertainment can be arranged and hot food or buffet can be provided.
Kim and Dave love animals and have two beautiful dogs, they understand that people love their pets and welcome you to bring along your dogs for a nice meal or a relaxing coffee after a nice walk in the beautiful surrounding parks they have nearby.
Do not worry if you have special dietary requirements. The Broadway can accommodate most intolerance’s and allergies, just pop in and speak with them about it and they can generally some up with something delicious and tantalising to accommodate you.
