Situated bang in the middle of the Island, in the back streets of Newport – positioned away from the tourist traps – Burr’s Restaurant offers fresh home-cooked food and a fantastic service. A traditional looking restaurant, its terracotta-tiled floors and candlelit tables give a very cosy feel. The bright walls provide a warm atmosphere, while the wooden furniture adds a rustic British element.
Complimentary marinated olives are offered while you choose from a range of menus. The à la carte menu offers such delights as British fillet steak and Gressingham duck, while the specials board offers local fish and seafood. Be sure not to miss their famous Bembridge crab and spinach brulée – something that people travel from afar to sample. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, with the chef also able to accommodate special dietary requirements.
Run by chef proprietor Matt Burr who opened the restaurant in 1997, Burr’s is one of the oldest family-owned restaurants on the Island, and is keen to support local farmers and fishermen alike. All food is made on the premises, including their fabulous desserts, with bread rolls also baked daily. A great selection of bottled beers and real ales are featured, which only helps to add to the well-stocked bar; a comprehensive wine list including both classics and New World favourites is also included.
Why not enjoy a business meeting, with the restaurant available to be booked out for conferences. WiFi and hot drink facilities are available, and there is also the option of choosing a buffet lunch if required. Burr’s also offers a bespoke outside-catering service, and there is a wide choice of different menus on offer; each can be tailored to your specific requirements.
Winning several Island awards, Burr’s has revelled in its recent success – earning an award for ‘Best Bistro-Style Restaurant’ from the Isle of Wight’s Good Food Guide. A restaurant you wish was more local, the Burr’s experience is one not to miss out on.
Our passion is inspirational food from excellent ingredients.
